5 Tips for Spring Cleaning Your Apartment

Spring is a time of growth and new beginnings, and you want to start that period of development with a clean apartment to represent a fresh start. However, cleaning your entire apartment will have its obstacle, but there are helpful tips for spring cleaning your apartment.

Start With Obvious

You always want to start with the most significant and most apparent messes in your home. Do you have a pile of dishes that needs washing or a large stain that you’ve let sit for a while on the table? Or perhaps your stovetop is strangely discolored. Start with tasks like these to get them out of the way. You should make a list and mark the spots that need the most cleaning; there isn’t a particular need for prioritization, but that is for you to decide.

Dust Before You Wipe

Dust quickly accumulates if you don’t take care of it frequently. When wiping down surfaces, dust will get in the way of the cleaning agent taking effect.

You may use any rag or cloth to dust your apartment, but for the sake of convenience, a sock over your hand will give you versatility and efficiency. Since you will possibly dust your whole apartment, you’ll most likely use at least two socks, and you won’t have to worry about an incomplete pair.

One Room at a Time

Given the many rooms that will need focus, it is best to clean one room at a time. To ensure each room gets clean, it’s a good idea to focus on one room a day. This method will give you time to thoroughly clean and organize each room while conserving energy by not cleaning multiple rooms in a day.

Pick a Whole Day for Laundry

One of the most helpful tips for spring cleaning your apartment is setting aside a laundry day. Doing laundry is a lengthy task that requires organization and a lot of movement between the washer and dryer. Suppose you have a large mound of dirty clothes that need washing; you may want to start your day early and wash as many as possible. If there are any more or you haven’t made a dent in the pile, this may be a two-day project.

Finish With the Floors

After all of your hard work cleaning the apartment, you’ll want to save the floors for last. Cleaning everything else while the floor is wet or still drying will pose a challenge. And after moving around so much while cleaning everything else, you’ll probably have dirtied up the floors, which would’ve made cleaning them before the rest of your spring cleaning futile.

Spring cleaning will most likely be a hassle, especially if you spend most of the year neglecting parts of the apartment. But using these tips will help your apartment look clean and pristine.
