You picked up your first paintbrush when you were merely a little child and you have always been fascinated by colors, lines and shapes. When your mind wandered off in class you found yourself doodling different art works in your notebook. You have always dreamt of becoming a successful painter or artist someday and you are more than determined to reach your goals and dreams in life.

The best way to hone your skills as an artist is to go to art school. For many aspiring artists however, the problem of funding their tuition fees is the biggest hurdle that they have to go through. Going to art school is definitely not the cheapest course to choose in college. It is also not the easiest course to get in. A lot of institutions require strict standards for all their applicants and in order to get in, you do not just have to have the funding but you have to have the skill and talent as well.

If you are determined to enter art school but you do not have the financial means to do so, your next best option is to go for an artistic scholarship. There are many different institutions that offer scholarship grants to budding young artists like you. Here are some of the best ones in the country:

1.) Academy of Art University

This institution prides itself in being founded by artists for artists. Built in 1929, there have been thousands of successful graduates from this university who have made a difference in the art scenes here and around the world. If you want to be one of those artists, you can apply for their art scholarship programs. One of those programs is called the Spring Forward Grant that assists you in pursuing your dreams in the field of art and design. The grant ranges from $1,000 to $2,000 financial assistance and you have to be currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in architecture or fine arts.

2.) Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Arts Award

This scholarship grant gives students and recent graduates who have exceptional artistic abilities and have needs for financial assistance up to three years of studies at an accredited institution in the country or abroad. This grant gives up to $50,000 in financial aid to aspiring artists and they select up to 20 recipients for this award each year. The grand includes financial assistance for tuition, board and lodging, school fees as well as books and materials. To qualify for this grant, your application will be reviewed by a panel of distinguished artists and members of the faculty. You must have plans of pursuing a career as a professional artist in order to qualify for this award.

3.) School of Visual Arts (SVA) — National Scholastic Art Award Scholarship

SVA has long been working in partnership with the Alliance For Young Artists and Writers. In their efforts to encourage the growth of talented young artists, they have come up with this grant, which will be given to two recipients. One recipient will be schooled in art and design and the other will be schooled in photography. Any eligible high school student who makes SVA their top priority will automatically qualify for the grant.

4.) Art Center College of Design

The Art Center awards scholarships and financial assistance to students who show outstanding visual and academic abilities. They can grant scholarships with full amounts or partial amounts depending on the funding and the review done by the Scholarship Committee. To qualify for this scholarship you have to maintain a GPA of 3.0 as well as demonstrate a continued need for financial assistance.
