One of the conundrums of being a professional is that you need an education to advance in your career. However, you can’t stop working to go back to school because you still have bills to pay. Therefore, you may have to both work full-time and go to school full-time as well. What are some of the best ways to juggle the demands of being a full-time worker while getting your education?
Take Your Classes Online
Going to school online allows you to watch lectures, do homework and take tests on your schedule. It also allows you to get schoolwork done from wherever it is easiest to do so. For instance, you could watch a lecture in the living room before bed or while your child is taking a nap. You could also choose to do homework or finish a test during your lunch break.
In some cases, online classes don’t take as long to complete. This means that you could complete a program in a matter of months instead of staying in college for the full two or four years that it may otherwise take to get your degree. If possible, take classes during the break between the fall and spring semesters or during the summer session. Courses during these shorter time periods are designed to be finished in a few weeks as opposed to an entire semester.
Work From Home
If you can’t go to school online, it may be possible to work from home instead. If your employer lets you work from home or some other remote location, it may be possible to finish a report before class or conduct a meeting through Skype instead of in a meeting room. Working from home may make it easier to watch your kids or otherwise be around if someone needs you.
Having the ability to work from home may also be advantageous if you have especially early or late classes. If you have to go to class until 10 p.m., you may appreciate the ability to get up at 8 a.m. and still making to work on time because there is no commute. If you have an 8 a.m. class, it may be nice to know that you only have to deal with rush hour traffic once getting to school as opposed to driving to work only to have to drive to school soon after.
Start Your Own Company
The internet has made it easier than ever to start and manage your own company. Working as a consultant or independent representative of an existing business may help you find balance between being your own boss and not having to start from scratch. Some companies, like ACN, offer the opportunity to create a passive income source that may make it easier to pay for school. Some may shy away from this opportunity, mistaking it for an ACN Pyramid Scheme, when in reality it may be the perfect business opportunity.
Going to school while working full-time is one of the greatest challenges that you will face in life. However, if you can find either flexible employment opportunities or flexible educational opportunities, it may be easier to manage both at the same time. If possible, ask your friends or family members to help watching your children or otherwise pitching it to make things easier for you while pursuing opportunities to strengthen both your life and career prospects.
